The Alumni Weekend 2019 Round-Up

Alumni Weekend is a wrap! This year, Hopkins nurses from North Dakota to Pennsylvania came together in Baltimore to enjoy an incredible assortment of special guests, to take advantage of learning opportunities, and just to bond over memories of Johns Hopkins.

Here are a few highlights:

Bond Street Social Cocktail Party

For the first time, Alumni Weekend included a Hypertension/ Cardiovascular Care Symposium, where nurses could earn CNE credits. Keep an eye out—you’ll be able to access the recording.

Rep. Lauren Underwood sat down for a fireside chat with Dean Patricia Davidson. When asked what sets a Hopkins nurse apart, she said, “Johns Hopkins trains nurses to be leaders—not just the best clinician.”

From Rep. Underwood:

“Nurses, we do not have the luxury of opting out of policy. Every day the work you do is being shaped by policy makers—who can see you, if you can you prescribe, hiring. The longer nurses opt out, the harder it will be for our patients.”

Ric Edelman of Edelman Financial Engines spoke on Financial Wellness for Health care Professionals.

He shed light on some startling statistics to consider when planning for your financial future—like the fact that 90 percent of all the people who ever lived to age 90 are alive today!
